Why People Use SEO Companies

SEO or search engine optimization companies can help your website or business get off the ground and listed in the major search engines resulting in more traffic and sales. One of the things you should always remember when deciding to use a website search engine optimization and website ranking service is that with a bit of hard work and lots of research you could in fact do it all by yourself.

Virtually everything you need to know about the subject can be found online with a bit of surfing. Ideally the best way to optimization your site is by doing it all yourself, this way you are in full control of your content, but unfortunately this can be very time consuming so in most cases doing it yourself might is not always the most practical solution. The main reason people decide to use a seo service is for time saving purposes and convenience. When you decide to hire a search engine optimizer, you are really paying for the convenience. Generally when you search around for an affordable seo service the more convenient it is, the higher the price will be.

If you only want to buy keyword optimized content for your website and then use it to increase your web traffic you can find a range of these services quite cheaply. In some cases it can cost you less than a hundred dollars per month to get all of the keyword optimized website content that you will ever need.

On the other end of the scale, if you are looking for a service to handle every aspect of your website including page content analysis, link building and traffic, you will have to pay a whole lot more. Depending on your time limits this may be the most convenient option for your business or website.

Basically people choose to use seo companies for convince as not everyone has the time to spend hours online researching the subject and optimizing their site. In some cases you may also feel that a seo company will be able to do a better job than your doing and save you time. Saving time on one aspect of your business also allows you to concentrate your time and energy on another part of your business.

Most Common SEO Mistakes

Generally I get contacted by site owners after their site is finished and already published to the web. The owner seeks out my advice after the site has been live for a while and still has no sales and/or traffic. I have put together a list of the most common problems I see when evaluating sites.

1. One of the most common mistakes I see is duplicate title tags. (The title tag is what appears at the top of the browser when the page is displayed and is what the search engines display for the first line of the site link in their results.) In other words most, if not all of the site's pages have the same title tag. Usually it is the name of the business. Search engines place a lot of emphasis on title tags. When multiple pages have the same title tag, the search engines discount those pages' importance.

It is extremely important to title the page with the keyword phrase the page is optimized for. It is best if the keyword only is listed in the title. If that is not possible, at least the keyword should be first. For example: "Small Dog Collars" or "Small Dog Collars – YourSite.com"

2. Although meta tags are given little importance now days by the larger search engines, it is possible to misuse them and actually hurt the site. The biggest mistake I see with meta tags is for the meta description to be the same for every page. Pages with duplicate meta descriptions will suffer greatly in the rankings. The same goes for the meta keywords tag. The keyword tag must contain ONLY those keywords found on that page. Also, it is important not to put the same word in the meta tag descriptions more than 3 times. Don't make a list of meta keywords like this: large collars, red collars, small collars, leather collars, nylon collars. Search engines could see this as stuffing keywords. Search engines consider this spamming. It is much better to omit meta tags altogether than to misuse them.

3. Internal linking is often a real problem. Too many links can cause the search engine spider to quit indexing the site before it is actually finished. Google states that a site should have no more than 100 links on a page. I suggest no more than 50. And that is still a LOT of links!

For SEO purposes, the links should always be made with text. Many designers create images for their linking. This is very counter productive for optimization purposes. And along these lines, the navigation system should never be in any form of java script, Flash, or image map. A link with anchor text "leather dog collars" which points to a page optimized for "leather dog collars" is the best method of linking for SEO purposes.
However, do not end up stuffing keywords by having too many links on the same page with the same word or words. For example, don't have half of a page's links like this: large collars, leather collars, small collars, etc. Instead, have "collars" for the heading of the group and then have the links "large", "leather", "small", etc. below. This is not perfectly optimized, but it is better to be cautious than to risk being seen as stuffing keywords by the search engines.

And lastly, it is important that every page on your site has multiple links to it. Pages which have only one incoming link will not be ranked well. They may even be placed into Google's supplemental index. It can be difficult to work a page out of the supplemental index once it is in there.

4. Links to other sites are often a problem too. The days of linking to your friend's hobby site are over. Spamming has become such a problem that the search engines have really changed their algorithms with respect to linking. A dog site simply cannot have links to a totally unrelated site such as a pottery site. I am not saying one single link to a non-related page will get your site banned, but just be aware this can be a problem.
To make it a little easier to tell your friend you can't link to his site, inform your friend that a link from your dog site to their pottery site will do their pottery sight no good whatsoever. Although incoming links are extremely important to a site, the incoming links MUST come from sites with a similar theme. It is great for your dog page to get a link from dog training, dog breeding, dog nutrition, and dog house sites. A link on a computer website to your dog site won't benefit your site at all.

Many new site owners may also fall prey to scams which promise "thousands" of incoming links for $29.99. There is a good chance these scammers will use what are called link farms. The search engines consider link farms to be spam. Always remember, there is no free lunch!

5. Another scam which new site owners often waste money on is paying money for submissions to "hundreds" of search engines. There is simply no purpose in submitting to even dozens of search engines. When I create a new site, I simply submit the site to the group of directories I have listed on my site. Within weeks, sometimes days, my new site will be indexed by the top search engines. I never even bother submitting directly to any search engines…not even Google or Yahoo. It doesn't hurt to submit to them, but it works just as well to get links with the directories and by posting some articles with your site's link to article directories.

Additionally, offers of "Guaranteed Inclusion" in search engines are complete scams. Anyone can get a site included in all the top search engines. But getting listed on their first or second pages is going to cost you more than $29.99. It is going to require work!
There are two ways to get great listings in the search engines. One way is to learn basic SEO skills, do the work yourself, keep learning about SEO, and keep tweaking your site as it works its way higher and higher in the search engines. The other way is to spend enough money to hire a professional Search Engine Marketer. For a small site, be prepared to spend $500 dollars or more.

There really is no in between. Do the work yourself or pay a professional. Any money spend in between will generally be wasted.

The Small Business and Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization, the Black Art, mysticism and the rest, nobody I know does anything about SEO Optimization it is all to complicated, other than a few Keywords and a short description on a page it is all hocus pocus and abracadra. Is it all 'Smoke and Mirrors'?

The Search Engines do not tell you what they are looking for and SEO companies love this ayre of mystery, SEO experts can charge what they like, but if you are a small business just starting out on the internet, can you afford to blindly give away money you could use elsewhere, when you start a small business do you need this cost eating into your profit even before you start, so most small businesses solve this problem by adding a few keywords and a description and that is that, job done.

What you have to understand is that the Search Engines give you Hits, hits give you Sales, sales give you Profit. The higher you are Ranked by the Search Engines the more Profit you make because your site is getting more Hits for the same outlay.

What you have to understand is that Hits from the Search Engines can last for months, you may fluctuate from page to page but once you are on page 1 it takes time to knock you down to page 2, time where you are getting lots and lots of Hits, Search Engine Ranking is a very fluid thing and does fluctuate but it takes time, it takes time to get to page 1 and it will take time to get demoted from page 1

The funny thing about Search Engines is that even though they operate at the speed of light, everything takes time, its the hurry up and wait scenario, it takes time to get registered, it takes time to get listed, it takes time to get to number one, time, time, time, I think this is the reason why a lot of small business tend to ignore Search Engine Optimization.

If you start a small business you should really look at Search Engine Optimization and Web Site Development even before you begin writing the web site, do not just blindly leave it to some web design company, make sure you are in the loop and check what they have done in the design to include these hits from the Search Engines.

One thing a lot of business people do not understand is that a Search Engine gives you FREE advertising, your web URL is blasted all across the web in the engines list, seen by millions on a daily basis, every body uses the Search Engines and you may find it surprising how many sales you will get from them. This is viral marketing at its best, its free, it propagates through search engines, it slowly climbs lists, it sends you hits, its out of control, and its set and forget, well maybe not set and forget more a sort of autopilot.

Businesses spend a lot of time and effort in web site development, making it look nice for buyers to look at only to never have anyone come visit, a small business that fails in the first year will actually fail in the first week of conception because nobody took time to understand Search Engine Optimization, it takes more than a few keywords and a description to succeed with the Search Engines and to succeed with the Search Engines should be paramount in any on-line business.

Search Engine Optimization - Where to Place Your Keywords To Maximize Keyword Optimization

Keyword research and keyword optimization is one of the most important strategies to ensure top search engine ranking. Don't let your keyword research efforts go to waste by not knowing where to place your keywords. In a previous article I addressed 'HOW' to place your keywords for the best keyword optimization. Now I will address specifically 'WHERE' to place keywords and phrases to ensure the best overall keyword optimization and search engine optimization.

If you have not read my earlier article 'Search Engine Optimization:Good Keyword Optimization Is Knowing "How" To Place Your Keywords'. Let me just briefly reiterate what I covered in that article to ensure things flow smoothly. I discussed the need to know 'how' to integrate keywords into content in a constructive manner by using a few proven strategies. If you did not get a chance to read this article it might be a good idea to go back and read it first, if need be, to ensure you see the overall 'big picture' of true keyword optimization. The previous article covered:

  • How search engines index entire pages and how much content should be contained within a page.

  • Keyword prominence: finding the best place to place keywords.

  • Keyword proximity: how close together keywords are placed within a sentence.

  • Keyword density: measures the weight of keywords in the content.

  • Keyword frequency: the repetition of the keywords indicated.

Not only knowing 'how' to place your keywords throughout your content but 'where' to specifically place keywords can ensure maximum keyword optimization as well as overall search engine optimization. It is not difficult to achieve top search engine optimization if you just follow a couple of tested and proven strategies and don't try to reinvent the wheel.

This is 'where' to place your keywords in your content to achieve maximum overall keyword optimization:

  • The first strategy to ensure good keyword optimization: is to include the most important keywords or keyword phrases in 'Title Tags'. Use your most relevant keywords and make your title interesting enough where the readers will want to click on it. I see so many repeated titles for a specific topic, when you are competing with millions of titles in the same catagory you need to stand out, grab the readers attention. If you don't capture their attention in the title, you may not at all.
  • The second way to ensure good keyword optimization: is to use descriptive 'Meta Tags', this is what is most often used when the search engine displays your site in the search results. Again, just like in the title, it is extremely important to create an inviting description as it is a title, these are the first things your reader will see before they click.
  • The third way to ensure good keyword optimization: is to make good use of the 'Keyword Meta Tags'. The keyword meta tags will include the keywords and keyword phrases of your content. List the primary keywords or keyword phrases first and separate with commas, followed by the remainder of the keywords you will be using throughout your content. This is what enables search engines to find you.
  • The fourth way to ensure good keyword optimization is: to make use of 'Heading Tags' they hold separate topics between paragraphs. H1 is used for large bold, and H6 is for very small bold. The 'Heading Tags' should include your most important keywords.
  • The fifth way to ensure good keyword optimization: is to utilize the 'Alt Tag'. This tag will add text in place of an image. Some readers will turn the graphics off when reading some content to ensure faster loading. These 'Alt Tags' should include the description of the link destination and should include your keywords.
  • The fifth and final strategy that will ensure good keyword optimization: are 'Hypertext Links'. Make sure to include your keywords or keyword phrases in your link.

  • It is critical for good keyword optimization as well as overall search engine optimization to know 'where' and 'how' to place your keywords. Using these tactics will improve your overall search engine ranking. Stick with tested and proven strategies to ensure the best keyword and overall search engine optimization.

Profit From The Hottest Revolutionary Money Tips of 2007

Did you know that money has everything to do with thoughts and emotions? Just picture them in your mind as two giant magnets that draw to you the things that you want in life. Undoubtedly, money would be one of those things.

Now, let me ask you this, do you want or need more money? Do you have enough? I never seem to have enough! Clearly, we can all agree that money is necessary for our survival. However, it also means so much more to us than just survival.

The further on you read, you will begin to understand what money really is and what some of the issues are in our struggles with money. First, lets look at what money really is. The finances that we enjoy indicate three main things:

    1. the quality of our lives daily

    2. the level of our enjoyment

    3. the level of freedom we experience.

It is obvious, that if your finances are severely limited, so too would your ability to obtain the better things in life. For instance, you would not be able to travel as freely, which in turn would limit your ability to embrace foreign cultures. In effect, your options would also be severely limited.

A few issues in our struggle with money

Are you beginning to see that money is not just presidents and pyramids floating around on green paper? Try to visualize money as a stream that courses through your very life.

Those who experience a drying up of money, also experience a drying up somewhere in their lives. This drying up of the stream can easily hinder relationships; certainly it carries health ramifications and also can disrupt your sense of inner peace.

I'm wondering if you feel as though you are always stymied or stuck in quicksand, unable to get out no matter what you do? Watch this; have you ever thought why simple strategies seem to work well for your friends and not for you?

Are you discouraged because the harder you work the more your lack of forward movement frustrates you? Have you ever felt like things are not coming together for you?

Do you know what I mean? Am I way out in left field or are we on the same page? Have you experienced some or all of this before?

After years of struggle, have you found out yet what money means to you? Ask yourself this question, what are you doing or not doing that has you stuck in a vice grip? Do you know what your main struggle is?

Finding an SEO Firm in Utah

Finding a good SEO (search engine optimizer or search engine optimization firm) is not easy in Utah. Sure, everybody and their brother currently offers SEO services, but very few have the experience and industry knowledge needed to help you get your website to the top of the search engines.

If you own a business in Utah and are considering different SEO firms make sure you take into account the following tips:

Does the SEO company rank on Utah terms?

Let's say that you are a cosmetic dentist located in Utah and you want to drum up more local business. Would you trust a firm that didn't rank itself on terms such as "utah seo" and "utah internet marketing?" There is an old saying that you should never trust a skinny chef - the same goes for SEO.

    What are the contract terms?

Many companies try to lock you into excessively long contracts to guarantee payment even if they aren't able to deliver results. While it is true that good SEO typically takes some time good SEO's will tend to set those expectations up front and allow you to choose when to terminate the contract. Your SEO should have to earn your trust every single month.

    Talk to references

This is probably the most obvious, yet neglected step of the process of finding and SEO. A creative spin on this question is to ask for a reference that has had out-of-this-world success and another client that has just had moderate success. When the SEO is choosing who you talk to they will most likely avoid anybody likely to say anybody bad about you. By asking for a moderately successful client you will have the chance to talk to somebody most likely to give you a realistic perspective on what you can expect from your campaign.

    Avoid "up to $X marketers"

A lot of Utah companies take the popular weight-loss infomercial approach of promising to spend up to a certain amount of money per month on PPC. Having an SEO manage a PPC campaign makes sense, but when the incentive is for the company to spend as little as possible (since they pocket the difference), your interests are not aligned. The goal is to align your interests as closely as possible with your internet marketing company. Decide on a fair amount for a PPC campaign and ask them what they will charge you to manage that budget.

In conclusion, finding a Utah SEO firm is easy, but finding one capable of maximizing your earning potential can take some time. Approach this decision as you would any other business decision and make sure that you can feel good knowing you found the best for your needs.

Overoptimization of Your Website is a Traffic Killer! Here Are Four Ways to Eradicate this Problem

When optimizing your website for a high ranking in Google, most SEO specialists will always recommend including a lot of links to larger websites to help with a higher overall rank for your business. But having too many outbound links and not enough inbound links can destroy your chances of getting a high search engine rank. You should always have more inbound links coming from credible websites than the ones you have outgoing to disreputable ones. Here's what do if you are caught in the worst case scenario of overoptimization:

    1. GET RID OF YOUR WEB PAGES THAT ARE KEYWORD STUFFED
Including a keyword or phrase any more than 10% of your total text in one of your website's articles is considered "keyword stuffing". For instance, if you include the word "Microsoft" as a keyword in your text that only has a total of 500 words, but you put "Microsoft" in the page fifty times (10%) then the text won't even make any sense to a human being, much less a search engine looking over your web page for possible inclusion in Google. You must remove "Microsoft" from your content so that it is used no more than a rate of 7% of the total text in your web page.

    2. DELETE UNWANTED KEYWORDS AND REPLACE THEM IN THE BEST POSSIBLE AREAS ON YOUR WEB PAGES
For great search engine optimization to really work, most of your keywords should be included in your title, headings and in the first paragraphs on your main home page. If you have a page that has a higher density percentage for an overly used keyword, then you should replace those keywords with synonyms. Also, never put your keywords in bold or italic, as that will not look natural to the reader, and will not do a thing to boost your ranking score with the search engines.

    3. DELETE ALL "DOORWAY PAGES" FROM YOUR WEB PAGES
A doorway page is essentially a page built not for humans to read, but instead is used for the sole purpose of getting search engines to rank that page higher, thereby giving your entire site a higher ranking. A similar tactic that SEO companies are known to indulge in is creating "hidden text", which are keywords that are embedded in the HTML code of the page. These techniques are nothing more than cheap manipulation "black hat" tricks, so if your site is using any of these cheap tricks on your main pages, get rid of them now.

    4. DUPLICATE CONTENT IS DEFINITELY NOT A GOOD THING
Duplicate text on your site could have been put there by a mistake, and if it is in there you are risking a much lower rating in the search engines the longer you let it stay on your web pages. Duplicate content is defined by having the same text used on one page as it is on another different page on the same exact site. This effect can even be brought on by your "sister site" that is linked to your main site, or if you happen to be linked to a very similar site that has almost exactly the same text as your main web page has. There are many software tools available to you so you can check for this kind of bad link, so I would highly recommend you do so immediately if you do own more than one other site similar to your main one.

Like anything else in life, the problems that overoptimization bring to your site can be overcome by attending to specific techniques like these to make sure your online business garners further success.

Advanced Ways to Search Engine Optimization

Fast search engine optimization is not rocket science, but nor is it a matter of just repeating a keyword phrase over and over. There is a balance to be maintained, and here are some tips to help you.

    Be Clear

Although this sounds like a no-brainer, lots of people think flowery language and esoteric terms makes them seem smarter. Your job as a fast search engine optimization writer is not to seem smart but to get results. Use plain language to reach the greatest number of people.

    Know Your Audience

If your audience is kindergarten teachers, then speak to their specific needs. You can easily get targeted keyword phrases into a paragraph. For instance, if you're marketing no-stain markers, your keyword phrase might be high quality no-stain markers and you can easily get one phrase in for every 100 words.

    Know Your Percentage

You should use no more than 2% keyword phrase content. Any more than that and the search engines get a sort of indigestion and start burping you out of the top results. Stick to a reasonable percentage and stay respectable.

    Write Articles

You should be establishing yourself as an expert. Make sure you publish well-written articles about things people care about. Make sure you use appropriate keywords again and repeat only 2% of the time. Post them on your own website as well whenever appropriate.

    PPC Ads

Make sure you use very concise content in your PPC ads, and include a good keyword phrase people will search for.

Articles Provide Free Internet Marketing Advertising

Anyone with the time, will and determination can succeed in internet marketing without great financial expense and I'll tell you how in this article.

Using free keyword suggestion tools like Overture keyword suggestion tool or Google keyword suggestion tool and a host of others, you will see the millions of searches done to a certain keyword. When these keywords are typed on search boxes of search engines, indexed websites containing articles with those keywords will be displayed. And this is what leads traffic to websites with keyword-rich articles. Yes, the magic word is articles, especially well written articles.

Content is king and this will never change. That is why writing good articles and making them available freely online by posting them on article directories is one of the most utilized Internet marketing method today. Internet surfers just cannot get enough of information on various fields. Providing information through these articles is a most certain way to drive hot traffic to your web site.

Why is this so? Here are the benefits that writing articles can give your website or web business.

    1. Your website or internet business will be noticed in a short period of time.

Submit that article of yours to article directories that get the most web traffic and in no time your web site will be crawled. That is if you don't forget including your resource box or byline.

    2. Obtain back links automatically to your website.

When you submit your articles to directories, surely, other websites will make use of your article too. With the copyright terms of your articles, the URL of your website will still be in tact and will subsequently direct more traffic to your website. Effectively you will gets links back to your site.

    3. Improve your reputation.

As an Internet marketer, if you plainly display your products on your website, you will not gain much conversion rate. Conversion is when your traffic converts to sales. You have to show that you are knowledgeable on your field. And what better way to show that than by writing good, quality articles that will allow you some bragging rights, right?

    4. It's absolutely free.

Too good to be true? Not. Okay, you have to pay for your Internet Service Provider. That's it. All you need is your thoughts, your computer, and your hands. If you have those, nothing will stop you from typing words that will make you produce that article for your website. On which aspect of that process did you really shell out any cent? Maybe later when your electric bills come.

Just make your creative juices flow and jot down or key in those ideas quickly to jumpstart your article writing momentum. With those benefits listed above, a writer's block is the last problem you will ever be able to surmount.

Article Marketing - Keyword Optimization Thoughts for Article Marketing

Every keyword is a market on its own and we can talk an hour about that. But if we have a wide-range of keywords, so that if we do work on all of the keywords, then you will have some keywords that make it and others that don't. Some of those keywords we may never be able to make top-ten. Others, we may make top number one within a few weeks. What I see though, is with article submission and submitting to multiple article directories, I see a lot of keywords that websites rise up to the top ten in a very, very short period of time.

For example if there's ten keywords that would be good keywords to drive traffic, or to drive conversions at a website, then I might recommend that [sic] someone write one article that is based around that keyword. I'm not big on keyword-stuffing. I'm not big on repeating the keyword a lot.

Put the keyword in the title, put the keyword in the first paragraph. And then write an article that's designed for a human that's interested in that keyword. If you use the keyword because you need to, great. If you don't use it a whole lot--that's okay too. I think that one thing that we get away from with article-writing, or article-marketing, is we try to optimize everything for the search-engines. What we should really be doing is writing for humans. Those are the people who are going to buy from you. Those are the people that are reading the article.
